BATH TUB COUCH?

I love this idea! What a creative way to recycle an old bath tub into a fun piece of furniture. More than ten thousand pieces of furniture are thrown out each year, before you discard your old furniture maybe consider repurposing it or donating it to a charity of choice.

RECYCLED SCULPTURE

This sculpture is made completely out of styrofoam cups by artist Tara Donovan. Her installation pieces are usually constructed out of recycled materials and molded carefully into amazing forms. I love how the light illuminates this piece.

GREEN PRACTICES

Living green doesn't have to mean taking on expensive remodels or buying costly green products. However, making a few green changes to your home and lifestyle can be cost effective. Here are just a few ideas:

1. Free yourself from matchy/matchy. Don't be afraid to mix old furniture with new.
2. Become a one car family.
3. Turn your gas fireplaces into a decor statement. Woodsmoke creates air pollution, candles not so much.
4. Support green businesses.
5. Swap out regular light bulbs for more energy efficient ones.

LOCAL REPURPOSED S.L.C. HOME

THE BARN HOUSE

Thanks to architect Rita Huys of Buro2 this space has become a fantastic fusion of old and modern ideas, the Barn House certainly stands out among the many reuse projects. This old icon has been transformed into something beautiful.

BOURBON BARREL COFFEE TABLE

This coffee table was built by Brooklyn based sustainable furniture maker, Uhuru. They specialize in designing and handcrafting stylishly utilitarian furniture from reclaimed, recycled and repurposed materials. For example, this coffee table had built out of bourbon barrel straps and steel. What an awesome design!
